agni kundam

the agnikundam before the temple is the place where the cocanuts are thrown by the pilgrims . the cocanuts are meant to be the body of the pilgrims and soul reaches the god .agnikundam burns continously during the mandala pooja and makaravilaku season.

the eighteen steps of sabarimala temple , it is covered by panchaloga metal. in the past pilgrims were allowed to break cocanuts in the steps as per the number of times they have came to to the temple. the steps were broken slightly so it was covered by panchaloga metal by the devasvom board.
